Ruling Trinamool Congress winner from Ballygunge Babul Supriyo was sworn in as MLA on Wednesday. Deputy Speaker of the state assembly Ashish Bandyopadhyay administered the oath of office to him at Naushar Ali's chamber on Wednesday.
"In the presence of National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien, former Union Minister and sitting MP Babul Supriyo joined the Trinamool family," tweeted All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
Babul Supriyo has said that the lose of the ministry had played a role in his decision of quitting politics.
Legislative assembly elections in Bengal is scheduled to be conducted in 8 phases which has started on March 27 and will end on April 29, 2021.
