
Today, the UP government presented its first paperless budget in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
Uttar Pradesh government led by CM Yogi Adityanath plans to develop Jewar Airport as Asia’s biggest airport. On Monday, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that the state government has proposed to set aside Rs 2,000 crore for Jewar Airport while presenting a Rs 5,50,270.78 crore budget for 2021-22 in the State Assembly.
The state govt has also increased the number of runways of the Jewar Aiport to six, which was earlier decided two.
The need for Jewar airport was felt as Delhi airport is expected to achieve 100 million capacity between 2021 and 2023, reaching saturation point. It will be the third airport in Delhi NCR after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and Ghaziabad’s Hindon airport. The airport is slated to be spread over a total of 5,000 hectares.

According to officials, the first phase of the airport will cost Rs 4,588 crore and is expected to be completed by 2023.
