
The Delhi Court has shifted the next hearing in the wrestlers’ sexual harassment case against Brij Bhushan to July 7. Delhi police filed a chargesheet against BJP Member of Parliament and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) outgoing chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over numerous allegations of sexual harassment against women wrestlers.
Earlier on Tuesday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court decided the hearing of the matter in the chargesheet against Brij Bhushan on July 1. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal took account of the chargesheet and noted that the probe is still in progress and a supplementary chargesheet against the accused is likely to be filed by Delhi police. The judge while shifting the hearing to July 7 said that the FSL report and report on CDR (call detail record) is awaited and likely to take time so the matter is put up for consideration on July 7.
Court has also cleared that the chargesheet is lengthy, roughly 1500 pages and it has to go through it.
Delhi police filed chargesheet against MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and his associate Vinod Tomar in sexual harassment allegations by multiple women wrestlers. The chargesheet was filed under sections 354, 354D, 345A and 506(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also filed a cancellation report against Brij Bhushan in POSCO act as per Special Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava.
