Gopal Khemka was a towering figure in Bihar’s business landscape, best known as the owner of Magadh Hospital, one of the oldest and most respected private hospitals in the state. His entrepreneurial spirit extended beyond healthcare, as he was involved in various business ventures that earned him recognition as a leading industrialist in Patna. What Happened?
The fatal shooting occurred around 11:00 PM on July 4, 2025, near the Panache Hotel and the Twin Tower apartment complex, where Khemka resided. According to police reports, unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire on Khemka as he stepped out of his car, shooting him at close range, with at least one bullet striking him in the head. The attackers fled the scene immediately, leaving Khemka dead on the spot. The brutality and audacity of the crime, committed in a posh area of Patna close to the Gandhi Maidan police station, have sparked widespread outrage.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Patna Central, Diksha, confirmed the incident, stating, “On the night of July 4, at around 11 pm, we received information that businessman Gopal Khemka has been shot dead in the south area of the Gandhi Maidan. The crime scene has been secured, and further investigation is underway.” Authorities recovered one bullet and a cartridge from the scene, and CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the perpetrators. A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by SP City Central, has been formed to probe the case, as announced by Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar.
