West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has claimed that the COVID-19 pandemic is gone and West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo is intentionally imposing lockdown to stop his party from conducting rallies in the state.

“Corona is Gone! Didi (Mamata Banerjee) is acting. She is intentionally imposing lockdown so that BJP cannot hold meetings and rallies in Bengal,” Ghosh said, while addressing a public rally in Dhaniakhali area in Hooghly district on September 9. The video clip is now the doing rounds on social media platforms, including Twitter.

With a huge crowd gathering to hear the West Bengal BJP president, Ghosh said that Mamata Banerjee’s brothers are feeling unwell seeing the supporters of his party. “They are feeling unwell not due to fear of coronavirus, but due to the fear of BJP,” he said.

West Bengal today reported fresh 3,112 coronavirus infections, taking the tally to 1,93,175. As per the health department, 41 people succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, pushing the fatalities count to 3,771. Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 today. Notably, the top police officer had attended the “Police Day” programme on September 8, which was also attended by West Bengal chief minister.
