The holy pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district will recommence on Sunday, September 14, after a 19-day suspension, officials confirmed on Friday.

The yatra was halted on August 26 following a cloudburst at Adhkuwari in the Trikuta Hills, which triggered landslides claiming 34 lives and injuring 20 others. Restoration work on the damaged track had forced the temporary suspension of the pilgrimage.

“Jai Mata Di! The Vaishno Devi Yatra will resume from September 14 (Sunday), subject to favourable weather conditions. For details and bookings, please visit www.maavaishnodevi.org,” the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDB) said in a statement on X.

Authorities emphasized that safety remains the top priority and urged pilgrims to carry valid identification, follow designated routes, and comply with directions from staff. The Shrine Board further announced that RFID-based tracking would continue to be mandatory for transparency and traceability of devotees.

Pilgrims have also been advised to rely on the Shrine Board’s official website for live updates, booking services, and helpline support.
