Tirupati MP and YSRCP leader Balli Durga Prasad Rao passed away at 65, due to the coronavirus infection. He was batting with COVID-19 infection at Apollo Main Hospital in Chennai.
The doctors treated him in the intensive care unit “for severe COVID 19 Pneumonia”
“He passed away at 5.45 pm, his clinical condition gradually deteriorated due to multi-organ dysfunction and despite all medical measures,” Director of Medical Services of Apollo Main Hospital Chennai Dr R K Venkatasalam said in a bulletin.
A three-time MLA and a former state minister is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
PM Narendra Modi condoled the death, he tweeted “Saddened by the demise of Lok Sabha MP, Balli Durga Prasad Rao Garu. He was an experienced leader, who made effective contributions towards the progress of Andhra Pradesh. My thoughts are with his family and well-wishers in this sad hour. Om Shanti.”
Chief Minister Sri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “The sudden death of Tirupati MP Balli Durgaprasad has come as a shock. He has worked tirelessly in the public service for 4 decades as an MLA, Minister and MP. His death was a desperate blow to the party. I offer my condolences to the family, praying for peace for their souls,” condoling the demise.
