External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered a firm one-line message to the global community in the wake of Operation Sindoor, launched by Indian armed forces early Wednesday in retaliation for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. Taking to social media, Jaishankar said, “The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.”

The tri-services operation targeted nine terror infrastructure hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), reportedly used by groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, and Jaish-e-Mohammad. The strikes were a direct response to the April 22 massacre in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator were killed by Pakistan-linked terrorists.
India has consistently accused Pakistan of sheltering terrorist elements and has long pushed for a united global stance against terrorism. The latest strike under Operation Sindoor marks a renewed assertion of India’s counter-terror resolve.
In the run-up to the strikes, Jaishankar had also engaged diplomatically, holding phone conversations with foreign ministers of non-permanent United Nations Security Council members including Algeria, Greece, Sierra Leone, Guyana, Panama, Slovenia, and Somalia. These talks were reportedly aimed at building international consensus and updating allies on India’s stance.
Pakistan, notably, is also currently a non-permanent UNSC member. The diplomatic context and Jaishankar’s terse message reflect India’s dual approach—military action backed by strategic outreach—as it intensifies its fight against cross-border terrorism.
