Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announced today that Inter-district bus transport and passenger train services within Tamil Nadu which were suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic would be allowed from September 7.
“Considering public welfare, following the Standard Operating Procedure, from September 7, inter-district government and private bus transport will be allowed across Tamil Nadu,” Palaniswami said in a statement.
The government had earlier scrapped the e-pass system and has decided to start the Chennai Metro services from September 7 according to a statement released on September 1.
As of now, bus transport within the districts is operation while some Inter-state train services are available as well in permitted routed. Representations from the public to facilitate transport service from one district to another has led the government to take this decision, according to sources.
Passenger train services within Tamil Nadu shall be permitted from the same date, the statement said.
