SP leader Azam Khan receives a 3-year jail term after being found guilty in a hate speech case in 2019

In 2019, Khan was accused of using hate speech after making remarks about Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

A Rampur court on Thursday found veteran Samajwadi Party veteran and former Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan guilty of using hate speech. Khan and the other two defendants in the case received a three-year prison term and a Rs. 2000 fine.

In 2019, Khan was accused of using hate speech after making remarks about Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Azam was released earlier this year after receiving temporary bail from the Supreme Court. Nearly 90 cases are pending against him, including one involving corruption and theft.
