Gangtok, Apr 9: President Hamro Sikkim Party, Bhaichung Bhutia expressed unhappiness at violence in Singtam and his disappointment with Sikkim Police, here on Sunday.
‘We have realised how weak Sikkim Police are and their inability to maintain law and order. Police were not seen when General Secretary JAC, K Sapkota was being attacked. If Police our FIRs are not accepted we will keep the case open till 2024.
“We are consulting lawyers to find out if First Information Report can be launched against the police personnel present there. If not, we will take action subsequently when we are in the government. The government will go and a new Government will be formed in 2024. We will not spare the wrongdoers,” said Bhutia.
He alleged that police lodged FIR against HSP activist Kedar Tiwari, ex-service man. that he had assaulted certain Ajay Tamang of SKM. Tiwari was under police custody overnight. Bhaichung showed a picture of three masked men and questioned why they were not arrested? If rally was starting without permission Police should have taken action not goons,” added Bhaichung.
Bhaichung appealed to all the Sikkimese to condemn the violence and work in the interest of the state and it’s not difficult to change 5years old ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, when the public could overthrow 25 years old Sikkim Democratic Front Party. He requested DG Police to take action. If no action is taken HSP with JAC will launch Dharna or a rally.
Hamro Sikkim Party led by President Bhaichung Bhutia, suggested that the Legislators of BJP in Sikkim Legislative Assembly, should resign on the issue of the Income Tax part of the Finance Act as amended recently and resultant violence before the beginning of the rally against a part of the FA at Singtam on Saturday.
