Seven people were killed and 28 injured on Thursday when a bus carrying pilgrims fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor area on the Jammu-Poonch highway.
Officials said the accident occurred near Chungi Morh at Chowk Choura when the bus went out of the driver’s control. The bus was carrying pilgrims from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh.
The injured were taken to Akhnoor Hospital. Those with serious injuries were later transferred to the government medical college hospital in Jammu city.
A massive relief and rescue operation is currently underway.
