In a decisive show of military strength, the Indian Air Force successfully used the Russian-made S-400 air defence system, also known as “Sudarshan Chakra”, to intercept and destroy a coordinated drone and missile assault launched by Pakistan late Wednesday night.
According to top defence sources, the Pakistani offensive — believed to be in retaliation for India’s Operation Sindoor — attempted to target key military installations in Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bhuj and several other northern and western Indian cities.
However, the Indian Air Force’s rapid deployment of the S-400 Triumf system played a pivotal role in neutralising the incoming threats mid-air. The high-precision surface-to-air missile defence platform reportedly intercepted multiple Pakistani drones and missiles before they could reach Indian soil.
Officials confirmed that debris from the thwarted attacks has been recovered at several locations, offering conclusive proof of Pakistan’s attempted escalation. The Defence Ministry had earlier noted that all threats were intercepted by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence Systems.
This successful interception reinforces India’s commitment to defending its strategic assets while maintaining a non-escalatory posture, even amid rising cross-border tensions.
