After the green signal given by the Modi Government for the big development which is related to Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train, later than the Ministry of Railways confirmed its statutory clearances relating to wildlife, Coastal Regulation Zone and Forest clearance have been obtained from the respective authorities concerned.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Friday, said that “The Final Location Survey and Geotechnical investigation has also been completed, while the alignment has been finalized too. The total cost incurred on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project up to June 2021 is approximate Rs.13,483 crore, mainly on land acquisition, utility shifting, and contractual payments. The project has suffered delays due to adverse impact of COVID-19 pandemic and slow progress in handing over of land in the State of Maharashtra.”

Here’s the current status of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project as under; Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train Project: Development so far:-

  1. The Final Location Survey and Geotechnical investigation were completed. Alignment finalized.
  2.  Statutory Clearances relating to wildlife, Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), and Forest clearance were obtained.
  3. Out of total land requirement of approx. 1396 ha, consent agreement signed/regular award done for approx. 1046 ha land.
  4. 1342 out of 1651 utilities shifted.
  5. The entire project work has been divided into 27 Contract Packages, including Training Institute at Vadodara. At present, 7 packages have been awarded and 10 more have been invited.

Amidst this, the Ministry of Railways has assigned the work for survey and preparation of Detailed Project Report for the seven High-Speed Rail corridors to National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited which may include regions like Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore and Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad routes of South India and the same is under progress.
