New Delhi, July 29: The proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till noon. Amid uproar, minutes after the members assembled for the day.

Deputy Chairman Harivansh informed that Opposition lawmakers Deependra Huda, Ranjita Ranjan, KC Venugopal. Mallikarjun Kharge, Elemaram Kareem, Javed Ali Khan, Binoy Viswam have given notices under Rule 267. To discuss various issues including price rise and Agnipath Scheme of recruitment. But the notices have not been admitted by Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu.

He said that discussion on price rise has already been accepted for the upcoming week in the House.
The Chair’s announcement didn’t go down well with the Opposition and the MPs raised slogans in protest leading to adjournment of the House till 12 pm.

The showdown between the Government MPs and Opposition MPs already escalated on Thursday. After the suspension of total 27 MPs from both Houses. and uproar over Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s “Rashtrapatni” remark for President Droupadi Murmu.

Suspended opposition MPs continued their 50 hour sit-in protest on Friday morning in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue inside Parliament premises to mark their agitation against their suspension. The sit-in is scheduled to end at 1 pm.

The MPs were suspended for the remaining part of the week. For unruly behaviour and creating ruckus in the Well of the House despite repeated warnings issued by the Chair.
