Railway Minister Piyush Goyal announces 71 new unreserved passenger trains from 5 April, 2021

As per the piece of information provided by the railway minister, Piyush Goyal, on Friday; Indian Railways have decided to start 71 unreserved passenger trains/express trains from the 5th of April, 2021.

The decision has been taken in order to boost the transport facilities for the railway passengers. According to the railway minister, the service of unreserved passenger trains will ensure safety and comfort for the passengers. Also, keeping in view the ongoing crisis, it will ensure social distancing, too; according to the railway ministry.

The railway ministry has also given the facility to get the unreserved tickets booked through the UTS on the mobile application. Thus, it will help avoid the unnecessary gatherings at the railway counter and hence ensuring proper safety and social distancing; as quoted by the railway ministry.

Note that this facility of booking tickets through UTS on the mobile app was terminated because of the Covid pandemic outbreak and imposition of lockdown all over the country.

In addition to this, the railway ministry is also going to commence ‘Superfast train service’ between Delhi and Secunderabad from the 4th of April, 2021. This is in view of ensuring convenience to the passengers. Here’s what you need to know;

  • Delhi to Secunderabad trains will operate every Sunday.
  • Secunderabad to Delhi trains will operate every Wednesday.

Well, earlier on Thursday, the Indian railway had temporarily ceased the services of Tejas express (Ahmedabad- Mumbai Central Ahmedabad) for a period of one month because of the rise in Covid-19 cases.
