The dean of the Pune hospital has claimed Dr. Ajay Tawade, one of the accused who has allegedly swapped blood sample of the 17- year-old juvenile involved in Porsche car crash, had been appointed as the superintendent after approval from the state’s medical education minister. His appointment as the head of the Forensic Medical Department comes despite the doctor being accused of kidney transplant and drug cases, said Vinayak Kale, the dean of Sassoon General Hospital.

Kale claimed that Dr. Tawade’s appointment was recommended by Sunil Tingre, a legislator, to Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif. Both Mushrif and Tingre belong to Ajit Pawar’s faction of NCP, which is one of the ruling parties in BJP and Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena’s alliance.

The teenager is accused of drink and drive on the night of May 19. He allegedly drove the sports car at estimated 150 km/hr and crashed into a motorcycle, killing two IT professionals – Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.
