The privatisation of the co-operative sector was a matter of concern, Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar. said on Monday.

“There are no longer old days for cooperation, which are now decreasing and private institutions are working in their place, and privatisation of such cooperative sector is matter of concern”, asserted the veteran [politician, while addressing the concluding function of birth centenary of “Sahakar Maharshi'” Gulabrao Patil.

On the occasion, Pawar published a life biography “Sahakartirth” on the basis of Patil’s life. The “Sahakartirth” award was given to former state chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde.

Pawar said that the late Gulabrao Patil had dedicated his life to cooperation and founded cooperative sugar factories under the leadership of Yashwantrao Chavan and Vasantdada Patil/ But now the number of cooperative and private factories was equaL while the strength of the private sector as increasing.
