YSR Congress MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy resigned from both the Assembly and the party on Monday (December 11). He was an MLA from Mangalagiri seat of Andhra Pradesh. He said that he does not fit in the current politics.
According to a Hindustan Times report, in a one-line letter to Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, Reddy said that he was resigning from the Assembly due to personal reasons. Reddy also thanked party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Filled cases against Chandrababu Naidu
He was instrumental in registering cases against former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Telugu Desam Party leaders in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road and land scams. The senior YSR Congress leader was elected to the Assembly on YSR Congress ticket in 2014 and 2019.
‘Does not fit into current politics,’ says MLA
Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said, “I feel I am not suitable for current politics. I will give more details later.” He said he has been in politics since 1995 and was hopeful that Congress would field him from the state in 2004 and 2009. He would give a ticket to contest the elections, but he was not given the ticket.
Defeated Nara Lokesh in the last elections
Mangalagiri said, “I joined YSRCP in 2011 after the death of Rajasekhara Reddy and since then I have been associated with the party’s founder, president and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.” In 2019, Reddy defeated Nara Lokesh, son of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, by over 5,000 votes.
In this regard, YSRC leader Kandru Kamala said that Reddy had taken the decision to resign as a personal one. The party has nothing to do with it. He was a trusted leader of the party. If he had any problem, he should have talked to the Chief Minister. His sudden resignation will definitely affect the party’s prospects in the constituency.
