Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday addressed a protest at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The protest was called by the opposition-led Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) against the suspension of a historic number of MPs from the Parliament during the Winter Session.

While addressing the protest, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the major cause behind the Lok Sabha security breach incident is “unemployment”. He even said that the extent of unemployment in India is so high that Indian youth spends seven and a half hours on their mobile phone every day.

“There are ome questions on the lapse in security of Parliament —  First question: How did they get in? Second question: Why did he perform this? The answer is unemployment,” said Rahul Gandhi.

“Today, the youth of our country spends about seven and a half hours on their mobile phones. The reason for this is unemployment, because Narendra Modi ji has taken away employment from them,” he added.

Rahul Gandhi further lashed out at media for not discussing the issue of unemployment.

“The country’s media does not talk about unemployment, it just tries to divert attention. The MPs who were suspended are not just individuals, but are the voices of the people of India. You have not only insulted the MPs but also silenced the people of India,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Other than Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, RJD MP Manoj Jha, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and senior MPs also addressed the protest.
