There has been a big change in Madhya Pradesh Congress. Kamal Nath has resigned after the defeat in the elections. The party high command has now made Jitu Patwari the state president. Apart from this, Umang Singar has been made the Leader of Opposition and Hemant Katare has been made the Deputy Leader of Opposition.

 

In the press release issued by the Congress, it has been informed that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Jitu Patwari as the President of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect. The party also appreciates the contribution of outgoing PCC President Kamal Nath.

Jitu Patwari lost the election

Let us tell you that Jitu Patwari was elected MLA from Rau seat for the first time in 2013. He is currently the Congress Secretary and in-charge of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee. He has also been the President of Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress. Let us tell you that this time also Congress had fielded Jitu Patwari from Rau seat, but he lost to BJP’s Madhu Verma. Whereas in 2018, Jitu Patwari defeated Madhu Verma by 5703 votes. Jitu Patwari is considered close to Rahul Gandhi. He has also been a minister in Kamal Nath government.

Former minister Jitu Patwari expressed gratitude to the national leadership for being given the responsibility of Madhya Pradesh Congress President and talked about strengthening the party. Patwari posted on social media platform Heartfelt gratitude to the national leadership.”

 

Gandhwani MLA Umang Singhar has been made the Leader of Opposition. At the same time, Hemant Katare, MLA from Bhind Assembly seat, has been made the Deputy Leader of Opposition. Both Patwari and Umang are considered to be from the opposing camp of senior Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Digvijay Singh. Since the defeat in Madhya Pradesh elections, there was talk that the party will make big changes.
