Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday (December 24) praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for bringing about a transformation in Uttar Pradesh in terms of law and order and investment and said it has given the state the status of ‘role model of role models’. The Vice President said this while addressing the convocation ceremony of Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida
Dhankhar said, “We had not even dreamed that India would take this form, you too had not seen that there would be this kind of law and order environment in Uttar Pradesh. People will want to invest here, it will flourish and flourish in every way. This has changed!”
He said that — “It is very important for any society, especially a democratic society, that we – the common man – walk with our heads held high – All are treated equally. But there was a time when some people used to say – what will the law do to us? The law is in our hands! And this was also the reality. But a big change has happened. No one is above the law now.”
VP praises UP Model
Vice President said that “What was the condition when Yogi Adityanath took oath as Chief Minister? This was a matter of concern both from the legal point of view and from the development point of view. Leave aside the country, whenever there is any problem in the world, the Honorable Chief Minister is remembered for Law & Order. Uttar Pradesh is now a role model in maintaining Law & Order.”
Dhankhar said this in the presence of CM Adityanath, state ministers Nand Gopal Gupta, Brijesh Singh and Gautam Buddha University officials.
Dhankhar recalled his governor tenure
Recalling his tenure as Governor of West Bengal just before he was elected Vice President, Dhankhar said he was Chancellor of three dozen universities in the state.
“I know what can happen with chancellors at some places, while I have also had the privilege of serving at some places like Panjab University. But I can say that this convocation is unique because it has brought about growth, confidence and civilizational. There are dimensions like ethos where there have been conversations about keeping our cultural heritage intact, being physically healthy,” he said.
Praising Yogi, Dhankhar said in a lighter vein, “The honorable Chief Minister has stolen a part of my heart and also a part of my address.”
Dhankhar said he thought a “politician” (Adityanath) would address the convocation, but a “spiritual leader, educationist, politician and visionary” spoke to the students.
