Tirath Singh Rawat, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, has offered to resign and due to the constitutional crisis, the CM had offered to step down from his post in a letter to the BJP President JP Nadda.
On Friday, Mr. Rawat met the BJP Chief, JP Nadda for the second time within a period of three days to discuss the political situation and the requirement of his election to the State Assembly before September 10. The meeting lasted for over 30 minutes and it is alleged that Mr Nadda explained to Mr Rawat that the Section 151 of Representation of the People Act, 1951 had created obstruction in his election for the State Assembly.
Mr Rawat is presently the MP from Garhwal Lok Sabha seat and according to the rules needs to be sworn in as an elected MLA within a period of six months for taking over as the Chief Minister.
Tirath Singh Rawat had offered to resign from his post less than six months after taking an oath as thr state’s new chief minister.
Tirath Singh Rawat would be meeting the Governor Body, Rani Maurya soon, as he has landed at the Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun, and is likely to address a press conference at 9:30 pm today.
