On Saturday, General Secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Congress, Randeep Singh Surjewala, addressed media at State Congress Office in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and made a series of attacks against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the farmers issue. Surjewala said that CM Shivraj cheated farmers, but Congress will ensure MSP to farmers once voted to power.

“Farmers in Madhya Pradesh have received MSP less than their cost. CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan has always cheated the farmers. The 18 years of Shivraj government will be remembered as an oppressive, cruel, deceitful and anti-farmer period,” said Congress in-charge of Madhya Pradesh.

“Shivraj government has only done the work of cheating farmers in 18 years. On one hand there are BJP’s lies, on the other hand there is Congress’s guarantee for the farmers,” said Surjewala.

Randeep Singh Surjewala also released a three-page statement over farmers’ issue and raised question regarding the MSP.

“Congress has promised to increase the support price of wheat to Rs 2,600 per quintal to the farmers of Madhya Pradesh. The support price of paddy will be Rs 2,500 per quintal. It will be sold at Rs 3,000 in future. This gift to farmers is more than the Swaminathan Committee’s recommendation,” said Randeep Singh Surjewala in a statement.

The elections in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled to be held on 17 November 2023 to elect all 230 members of the state’s legislative assembly.
