Row on ‘Thumka’ remark: TMC MP Mahua Moitra attacks Union Minister Giriraj Singh

Union Cabinet Minister Giriraj Singh’s comment on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee enraged TMC MP Mahua Moitra.

Union Cabinet Minister Giriraj Singh’s comment on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee enraged TMC MP Mahua Moitra. She called Giriraj Singh a shameless minister. Mahua said that only shameless ministers can say such things against the only woman Chief Minister, hence this is the condition of the country. BJP government and all BJP ministers are anti-women, she said.

Sharing the ‘thumka’ remark video of Giriraj Singh, Mahua Moitra wrote on X, “Mr Not So Honourable Minister @girirajsinghbjp – your shameful misogynistic comments about only lady CM in India reek of your sick perverted mentality. Yes we love our jashn. We love our thumkas. We celebrate that @BJP4India can never rule Bengal.”

Then again with a video message, Moitra attacked the Union Minister by saying: “Shameful misogynist @girirajsinghbjp – you dare tell @MamataOfficial what is “uchit”? You deprive crores of poor people of rightful MNREGA wages and AWAS funds for years & yet your twisted sick mind tells our CM what is “uchit”. Get a life.”

What did Giriraj Singh say?

Giriraj Singh said that West Bengal is suffering from corruption and where the rights of the poor are being snatched away, it is not right that Mamata Banerjee is celebrating and dancing in the film festival. I say that there is poverty, unemployment, corruption and the Chief Minister was in the film festival. TMC people are trying to create confusion among the people by raising this issue. Is saying ‘celebration’ equivalent to ‘thumka’?
