Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC): The Rajasthan government is facing major black-lash after appointing Lt. Col. Kesari Singh as a member of Rajasthan Public Serice Commission (RPSC). The state government led by Congress party passed an order to appoint 3 members of RPSC including Kesari Singh, Kailash Chand Meena and Prof. Ayub Khan.

Nirmal Choudhary, President of Rajasthan University Students’ Union, and a close aid of Congress MLA Mukesh Bhakar, opposed the appointment of Kesari Singh in the RPSC and asked for his resignation with a video message posted on social media platform X. He said: “Hello friends. RPSC had already lost the confidence of the candidates due to continuous paper leaks for the last five years and now with the appointment of a discriminatory person like Kesari Singh by the Chief Minister, there is an atmosphere of fear among the students. Get this person’s resignation in time.”

Over these appointments in RPSC, Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA from Churu, Rajendra Rathore, attacked chief minister Ashok Gehlot and wrote over X, “Chief Minister frightened by the shameful defeat of Congress in 2023. A few hours before the announcement of the election date by the Election Commission and implementation of the Code of Conduct, CM Ashok Gehlot has created havoc by appointing his favourites in various boards including Rajasthan Public Service Commission and Staff Selection Commission.”

There are a number of posts on social media platform X calling Kesari Singh a casteist person. After Kesari Singh faced major blacklash on X, his account on the platform with username @thekesari started showing: “This account doesn’t exist. Try searching for another.”

An X user @RishiRahar wrote: “The casteist mindset with which Lt Col Kesari Singh works makes it seem that this person will not be able to last long in RPSC. And such casteist thinking people end up eating themselves like the American Rat Snake. There is no need to fear Jats and Gujjars. Stand firm.”

As the issue is gearing up, it might be problematic for the Congress led state government and CM Ashok Gehlot in the poll-bound state Rajasthan where elections are scheduled for next month and the results will be declared on December, 3.
