On Friday, in a grand event at Albert Hall, Jaipur, Princess Diya Kumari took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajsthan, along with Prem Chand Bairwa. In the recently held assembly elections in Rajasthan, Diya Kumari secured a landslide victory from Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency, defeating Sitaram Agarwal of Indian National Congress (INC).

So, let us tell you about the life story and political journey of Diya Kumar, and how she managed to become the Deputy Chief Minister of a large state like Rajasthan.

Political Journey

Rajasthan’s new Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumar became MLA for the first time in the year 2013. Then he won from Sawai Madhopur constituency. The city of Sawai Madhopur was founded by his ancestor, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I in the 18th century.

After this, during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he got a chance to contest for Lok Sabha from Rajsamand seat of Rajasthan. Despite being an MP, the party had fielded him with the aim of giving him a big responsibility in the 2023 assembly elections in Rajasthan.

Life Story

Diya Kumari tied not with Narendra Singh in 1994. This relationship continued for about one and a half decade. After this, both of them got divorced in the year 2018. Talking about her educational background, she has studied from Britain in Arts stream.

She has many business ventures on her name, basically she is a renowned entrepreneur. She also heads two schools, two trusts and museums, hotels and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Royal Family

Diya Kumari belongs to a royal family of Rajasthan. Her grandfather Man Singh-II was the last King of Jaipur. After independence, it got merged with India.

She is the daughter of late Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh and Maharani Padmini Devi and granddaughter of Man Singh II and Maharani Gayatri Devi. Maharaja Man Singh of Jaipur was also included among the Navaratnas of Mughal Emperor Akbar. It was first known as Amer and later as Jaipur.
