Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting the immediate convening of a special session of Parliament in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
In his letter dated 28th April 2025, Gandhi said the attack has “outraged every Indian” and emphasized the need for the nation to present a unified stance against terrorism.
“At this critical time, India must show that we will always stand together against terrorism,” the letter read. He added that the Opposition believes both Houses of Parliament should convene so that representatives of the people can “show their unity and determination.”
“We request that such a special session be convened at the earliest,” Rahul Gandhi concluded in the letter, which was signed and sent from his residence at 10 Janpath, New Delhi.
The call for a joint session comes amid heightened public emotion and political reactions across the country following the tragic incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where security personnel and civilians were reportedly targeted in a terror attack.
