On Thursday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a showcase notice to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his speech in Rajasthan’s Barmer, where he called Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘panauti’ and blamed him for Indian Cricket team’s defeat in ODI World Cup final match at Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The ECI notice has also mentioned another speech of Rahul Gandhi in which he compared PM Modi with ‘pick pocket’, i.e., Jaibkatra.
Now, NCP leader Supriya Sule has come in front and has extended her support to Rahul Gandhi by calling him a ‘strong’ and ‘honest’ leader.
On being asked about Election Commission’s notice to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Sule said: “Rahul Gandhi is a strong & honest leader. I am confident that he will give a dignified and honest answer. He is a fighter. He can afford to be fearless because he is honest,” as quoted by news agency ANI.

What’s the matter?
Let us tell you that while addressing a rally in poll bound state Rajasthan’s Baytu, Congress MP made this comparison of PM Modi.
“Our boys were playing well there, and they were about to win the World Cup, but the panauti (referring to PM Modi) made them lose. The TV people will not say this, but the public knows it all,” said Rahul Gandhi. The official handle of Congress party has even shared Rahul Gandhi’s video from his speech saying these words.

Regarding this statement of Rahul Gandhi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has attacked him and is asking him to apologize for his statement. In this regard, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said: “The kind of words Rahul Gandhi is using for PM Modi is indecent. Rahul Gandhi will have to apologize to Modi ji. Otherwise, we will make it a big issue in the country.”
