Despite the fact that the former Punjab minister’s office claimed that Sidhu had been invited to Delhi for a meet with Rahul, sources said that no such meeting has been scheduled.

Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress president, said on Tuesday that “There is no meeting. I don’t know what fuss you are making.” He made the remark while leaving his Tughlaq Lane residence in Delhi.

However, party sources said that Sidhu, who’d been camping in the national capital, was expected to meet Rahul and Priyanka soon. The two siblings are attempting to reconcile all Congress leaders, including Sidhu, in order to present a united Congress ahead of next year’s elections.

For the last several days, Rahul has already been meeting with Punjab leaders over clashes inside the state Congress and ahead of a reorganisation of the party and the state cabinet.

The state unit will be restructured by the Congress leadership ahead of the assembly polls.

Brahm Mohindra, Vijay Inder Singla, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Rajya Sabha member Shamsher Singh Dullo, and MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha are among the ministers, MLAs, and MPs whom Rahul Gandhi has met.

Rahul has already met with Sunil Jakhar, the state Congress head, and Partap Singh Bajwa, a Rajya Sabha member and former Punjab Congress chief.

Sidhu, who left from the Punjab cabinet in 2019 after losing his local bodies portfolio, was at odds with Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh. He has slammed the chief minister for what he claims is a perversion of accountability in the 2015 sacrilege episodes and subsequent police firings.

On June 22, Capt. Amarinder Singh appeared before a panel in Delhi, which was chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge, the Opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha. He did not, however, meet with Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi when he returned to Chandigarh. Harish Rawat, the AICC general secretary in charge of Punjab affairs, and former MP J P Aggarwal are on the panel.
