On Friday, Punjab BJP vice-president and former cabinet minister, Raj Kumar Verka announced his decision to quit the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is all set to return to his mother party, Congress, which he left earlier after having a tussle with party leaders Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sunil Jakhar.
The four-time MLA and cabinet minister in CM Charanjit Singh Channi’s tenure, Verka, is a strong SC face in Amritsar and holds a great position among the voters.
While addressing reporters, Raj Kumar Verka said: “After thinking for many days, I have decided that I am leaving the BJP. I am resigning from the BJP. After this, I am leaving for Delhi right now. I will join the Congress party.” (ANI)

Responding to Verka’s move of returning to Congress, Punjab BJP spokesperson Anil Sarin said: “It is very unfortunate. When he joined the BJP, he was given respect. He was made the Vice President of Punjab State BJP. He was also nominated as a member of the top core decision-making committee of the party. If he is leaving, and that too for joining the Congress, I think Raj Kumar Verka has to answer what the reasons were that he had left Congress and joined the BJP.” (ANI)

Well, the Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has shared a picture of several senior leaders from Punjab meeting AICC General Secretary Incharge K C Venugopal, including Raj Kumar Verka, who will be joining Congress party soon. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said in an X post, Various senior leaders from Punjab including former cabinet ministers Balbir Sidhu ji & Gurpreet Kangar Ji, former MLA Raj Kumar Verka Ji, Mohinder Rinwa Ji, Hans Raj Joshan Ji & Jit Mohinder Sidhu Ji, Kamaljeet Dhillon ji S/o former MLA Amrik singh Dhillon Ji, Amarjeet singh sidhu (Mayor Mohali) have expressed their desire to join @INCIndia in the presence of AICC Gen Sec Incharge @kcvenugopalmp ji.
