PM Modi’s 2021 Cabinet Reshuffle, expected to be youngest in the Indian history

PM Modi was making changes to his cabinet for the first time after he had started his second term in 2019. PM Modi earlier carried out a month-long review of the Minister’s performance which made the government suffer criticism in the country as well as abroad.

The first cabinet reshuffle in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second term would be announced on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The government had mentioned that the new cabinet would be the youngest cabinet in the history of India.

Delhi is abuzz with the speculations of a reshuffle in the Union Cabinet.

Prime Minister was said to hold an important meeting at his residence, which was allegedly related to the cabinet reshuffle, however, the meeting had been canceled.

The leaders who have been speculated to be a part of the new cabinet have started arriving in Delhi.

There would be more women ministers, the average age would be the lowest ever, and those who had administrative experience would be given a special representation. Also, two dozen OBC’s would be represented, as the plan was to involve the smaller communities, and the average education would be higher.

The government sources said that there would be a special focus on each state and even the region in states, and the changes made would factor in polls next year in five states and also in the 2024 national elections.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, a former Union Minister is expected to be a part of the council of ministers, Mr. Scindia had joined the BJP in March 2020.

Sarbananda Sonowal, former Assam Chief Minister, has also been expected to be a part of the council of ministers. RCP Singh and Lallan Singh, leaders of JDU, would be traveling to the national capital amid the speculations, however, the Janata Dal (United) had not been represented in Councils of Ministers so far.

The appointment of Union Social Justice Minister, Thawarchand Gehlot, as the Governor of Karnataka has left a significant vacancy in the government, which means that any leader who was not a member of either of the house’s of parliament could be elected to the Rajya Sabha till the remaining term of Mr. Gehlot which is till April 2024.

Dinesh Trivedi from Trinamool and Jitin Prasada from Congress had switched to BJP fit the slots.
