Navjot Singh Sidhu today resigned from his post of the Punjab Congress party president. This resignation was handed 3 days after a crucial meeting held by the Congress Party.

Congress held a crucial meeting on the 13th of March where the rebels resisted Gandhi’s family, loyalists insulated them and Sidhu was asked to resign by the party leadership.
It has been decided that the First Congress Legislative Party meeting will be held on 10th March at PPCC office (Congress Bhawan, Sector 15) at 5PM.

Congress had a toll on recent state elections rendering them position less in their strongholds. Jyotiraditya Scindia left congress in 2020 and there was a fight for Sachin Pilot. Signs of rebellion can be seen in the conduct of many party members. In the last meeting of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi announced that she’d stay the party president for another term.

Many leaders have defected to congress and joined several other parties as the data showed it had a 2.3% vote share in UP and 22.98% in Punjab in recent elections. These defections have reduced the representation of the Congress party in the state legislature.
Captain Amrinder Singh was the one who gave a blow to the Congress party as it reduced its vote share from 38.5% to 22.98%, which is huge as it was also affected by the Aam Aadmi party’s election campaigns as it gave AAP 42.01% vote share in Punjab.
