On Sunday, Mayawati, the BSP chief, accused the BJP government in UP of misleading the people and also made attempts to connect with the Brahmin community, she accused that the people who were considered the traditional voters were being mislead by the BJP when she began her party’s campaign for the assembly elections which were scheduled for the next year.
Mayawati said that she would assure the interests of the Brahmin community were safe when the BSP came to power.
The BSP party would launch a campaign in Ayodhya next week to connect with the Brahmin community.
Mayawati said that she was very hopeful that the Brahmins would not vote for the BJP. She added that a campaign in the leadership of SC Mishra, BSP General Secretary, would be launched from Ayodhya on July 23 to connect with the Brahmin community and assure them that the only under the BSP rule their interests would be safe.
Mayawati mentioned that the Brahmin community should support the BSP like the Dalit community which remained loyal to the part regardless of the money, power and other methods used by the BJP to influence the voters.
She added that the BJP and Congress had used all the ways to influence the Dalits but the community had not been misled by the BJP’s fake promises and that even though BSP lost the assembly elections last year, their vote percentage from the Dalit community was the same and did not even go to the SP.
The BSP chief also warned that the Brahmin community were already regretting their votes to the BJP party in the previous elections and that the BJP would again make attempts to mislead the people as they began campaigning for the state polls.
She said that she was confident of the support from the Brahmin Community like in the year 2007.
Mayawati came to power in 2007 and was dominated by the Dalit vote bank, a majority with 21 per cent Dalit vote and 11 per cent of Brahmin vote which was a unique combination for the party.
In the election, the slogan was developed by the BSP that Tilak lagega haathi par, baaki sab baishaki par which meant that the elephant would get the votes and the rest would be on crutches. The symbol of the BSP is an Elephant which made the slogan more significant and relevant.
