On Thursday night, the Congress party after released its second list of 85 candidates for the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls. With this list, the party has declared all 229 candidates except one and replaced three of its previously declared nominees.
The party has fielded Rajendra Bharti (a former MLA) in place of Awadesh Nayak to contest against BJP candidate and Home Minister Narottam Mishra from Datia assembly constituency. The change was made after the opposition made by party workers and leaders. The previous candidate for the Pichhore assembly seat, Mr. Shailendra Singh was replaced by Arvind Singh Lodhi and Narmada Prasad Prajapati fielded from the Gotegaon-SC assembly constituency replacing Shekhar Chaudhary.
To contest against Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar from the Dimani assembly seat, party has fielded Ravinder Singh Tomar as the rival.
Over second list of candidates, MP Congress chief said: “Congress Party has today released its second list of 88 candidates for Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. I wish all the candidates good luck. The candidates of Congress Party are not just contesting to become MLAs, but have also entered the election field to shape the future of Madhya Pradesh. Let us all join our duties with all our might from today and gear up to end 18 years of misgovernance from Madhya Pradesh. Form the Congress Party government in Madhya Pradesh with an overwhelming majority.”

After ruling the 2018 Assembly elections, the BJP returned to power in March 2020 with Shivraj Singh Chouhan as chief minister due to the fall of the Congress government after many MLAs under the leadership of Jyotiraditya Scindia, joined the BJP. The Congress party has fielded Sunil Sharma to contest against Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia under whom lies the Gwalior assembly seat.
