Every year on October 31, ‘National Unity Day’ is marked on the birth anniversary of ‘Iron Man of India’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel is also known as ‘Iron Man of India’ because of his commitment and ability to integrate all the 562 princely states within India into one India. The title was given to him by Mahatma Gandhi. Paying his tribute, Jagat Prakash Nadda (President of BJP) said: “I pay my tribute to the great architect of modern India and the Iron Man ‘Bharat Ratna’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. Hearty greetings to all the countrymen on ‘National Unity Day’. Patel ji, with his hard work, strong will power and foresight, did the great work of uniting the country divided into princely states. You will always remain an inspiration for the future generations for the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.”

BJP also inaugurated the world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel located in Gujrat on the same day in 2018.
