The counting for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is underway and Congress has made significant improvement as it is prepared to rally the highest number of seats since 2014. Additionally, another significant victory on Congress’ account as its candidate Geniben Thakor has won against Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Rekha Chaudhary in Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 30,000 votes on Tuesday.

This win has disrupted BJP’s objective to secure all 26 seats in Gujarat for third consecutive term.

Banaskantha has traditionally been a stronghold for BJP. In 2019, BJP’s Parbatbhai Patel secured the seat with a substantial margin of 368,000 votes over Congress’ Parthi Bhatol. The seat was also won by BJP in 2014.

It must be noted that it has been after 15 years that Congress has won a seat in Gujarat.
