On Monday, the Delhi Police used water cannons to disperse protesters from the road. The protestors were protesting over the water crisis in Delhi. They were identified as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers.
The demonstration was conducted by the local BJP unit. It was against the Arvind Kejriwal-led government over the water supply shortage. This water crisis has reportedly hit several parts of the city.
The police used water cannons to disperse the protestors when they allegedly attempted to cut the water connection to Delhi Jal Board chairman (DJB) Satyendar Jain’s house.
Further, the protestors also threatened to cut off the water supply to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence considering that the issue is not resolved in the next two days.
This protest followed after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers allegedly damaged the water connection to Adesh Gupta, Delhi BJP chief’s residence. The AAP workers were protesting against the Haryana government for not providing the national capital with its share of water, as per reports.
Adesh Gupta while addressing the protestors remarked,” People in Delhi are craving for each drop of water. The ministers of the Kejriwal government will realize the problems being faced by the people when their water supply is cut off.”
Navin Kumar, Head of Delhi BJP media claimed, “We used a JCB machine to remove the waterline outside Jain’s residence.” He further uttered that if the problem is not solved within two days, they will cut the water connection to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence too.
He further asserted, “The police used water cannons and detained our men during the protest.”
