The counting of votes for the by elections of Mokama and Gopalganj assembly constituencies is in progress under tight security arrangements.

During initial round of counting of votes RJD candidate Neelam Devi is leading in Mokama over her nearest arrival Sonam Devi.

In Gopalganj the BJP candidate Kusum Devi is leading over her nearest rival of RJD Mohan Prasad.

Polling in both of the constituencies was held on November 3 during which 53.45 pc of the total electorate had exercise their franchise in Mokama whereas 51.48pc electorate at participated in the democratic exercise in Gopalganj.

University Mithapur Patna while counting of votes for Gopalganj seat is going on at Thave Diet centre.

The main contest in Gopalganj is between BJP candidate Kusum Devi, widow of BJP MLA Subhash Singh and RJD candidate Mohan Prasad Gupta whereas in Mokama the fight is in between RJD candidate Neelam Devi, wife of former MLA and heavy weight leader Anant Singh is facing BJP candidate Sonam Devi.

In Gopalganj Abdul Salam of AIMIM, Indira Yadav wife of former MP Sadhu Yadav who is brother of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi have also thrown their hats in the electoral battle in Gopalganj.

The election in Gopalganj was held following death of BJP MLA Subhash Singh whereas Mokama Assembly Constituency it was held following the disqualification of Anant Singh due to his conviction in a case.
