The top leadership of the Congress held a meeting on Saturday to review the defeat suffered by the party in the recent assembly elections in Rajasthan. In this meeting, it was decided to remove the shortcomings and unite and start preparing for the next Lok Sabha elections.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had called a review meeting at the All India Congress Committee headquarters in Delhi. Former party president Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders were also present in this meeting. A review meeting was also held with Rajasthan regarding the results of Mizoram assembly elections.

Many of our candidates lost by very less votes’: Sukhjinder Randhawa

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, State Congress Committee President Govind Singh Dotasra, state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and many other senior leaders participated in the review meeting related to Rajasthan.

After the meeting, Sukhjinder Randhawa said, “A very long discussion took place. Many of our candidates lost by very less votes. We have told the leadership that we will make preparations for the Lok Sabha elections. Wherever there were shortcomings, we will remove them and contest the elections. Will fight unitedly.’ He said that the entire Congress had fought unitedly in the assembly elections also.

When asked whether he offered to resign from the post of in-charge, Randhawa said, “The leadership said that Congress has performed better in Rajasthan compared to other states. I had already said that I wanted to stay till the assembly elections.”

The Congress party also held a review meeting over defeat in Mizoram assembly elections 2023.
