Boxer Vijender Singh comes in support of Sakshi Malikkh as she quits wrestling

On Thursday, after Sakshee Malikkh announced about her quitting the sport, Vijender Singh even took a sly dig over Indian cricketers over their alleged silence over the wrestlers’ protest issue.

On Friday morning, Indian boxer and a well-known critique of the present Modi government, Vijender Singh, addressed a press conference from Congress party’s forum and extended his support and solidarity to Indian wrestling star and medallist Sakshee Malikkh, who announced of quitting the support yesterday.

Singh also claimed that attempts are being made to defame the wrestler’s protest.

While addressing the press, Vijender Singh said: “If this had happened to your mother, sister and daughter, would you still have remained silent like this or would the Modi government have remained silent like this? An attempt was made to defame the protest of women wrestlers. I have been with him since day one and will be with him in the future also. I want justice to be done to them.”

On Thursday, after Sakshee Malikkh announced about her quitting the sport, Vijender Singh even took a sly dig over Indian cricketers over their alleged silence over the wrestlers’ protest issue. In a social media post on X, Singh wrote: “Did even one of the cricketers tweeted or supported the wrestlers?”

Let us tell you that all this controversy erupted again after Sanjay Singh, a close aid of BJP MP and former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh, won the election for the President post of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
