On this occasion, Sonia Gandhi has praised Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The same Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has given the message of preparation for Mission 2024 while emphasising on opposition unity.
In the book, Kharge questioned K. Chandrashekhar Rao on ‘breaking’ the promise of a Dalit CM, while Kharge highlighted Sonia Gandhi’s efforts to “empower the weakest and most vulnerable”. At the same time, it is written that Rahul Gandhi “highlighted the rare quality of “putting the organisation above his personal interest”, which “inspired many people to fight the good fight.”al
Kharge won the party’s top post by defeating his rival Shashi Tharoor in the internal elections on October 19, 2022, in which over 9,000 delegates from across the country voted. He took charge on 26 October.
Kharge became a non-Gandhi party chief after a gap of 24 years. The Congress got its last non-Gandhi president in 1996, when Sitaram Kesri was elected to the top post of the party by defeating Sharad Pawar and Rajes Pilot.
