Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel sent an ambulance to take Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to the hospital for medical tests on Saturday. This comes after Kejriwal claimed he might be suffering from serious ailments.

Kejriwal had approached the Supreme Court on May 26, seeking a seven-day extension of his interim bail to undergo medical tests, including a PET-CT scan. He stated in his plea that he lost 7 kg in jail and his ketone levels were “too high”, which could indicate a serious health issue.

However, the police stopped the ambulance and Goel on their way to the Chief Minister’s official residence in Civil Lines.

The Supreme Court had granted Kejriwal 21-day interim bail on May 10. He was arrested in a money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor policy scam and was given this bail period to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. The court directed him to surrender on June 2, the day after the elections concluded.

Goel accused Kejriwal of “creating drama” to gain sympathy and said, “This ambulance was to take Kejriwal to any hospital where all his tests can be done within two hours.” He urged Kejriwal to stop the “drama” and join him for the tests if he was truly concerned about his health.

AAP leader and minister Atishi stated in a press conference that Kejriwal’s high ketone levels could indicate kidney issues or even cancer.

A Delhi court is expected to hear Kejriwal’s application for interim bail later in the day. The Supreme Court registry refused an urgent listing of his plea for a bail extension, stating that since Kejriwal was allowed to seek regular bail from the trial court, his plea was not maintainable.

Kejriwal seeks an extension of his interim bail to undergo several medical tests, citing “sudden and unexplained weight loss coupled with high ketone levels” as potential indicators of serious health issues.
