On Thursday, April 8, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed political a public rally in Krisharampur in Hooghly. The Election Commission on Wednesday issued a notice to the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her remark on ‘Muslim vote split’.
UP Chief Minister further added that, “During CAA protests, TMC people were supporting those who were instigating violence. In UP, we put up hoardings of rioters and confiscated their properties. Mamata Didi can’t do this as she sees them as TMC vote bank.”

West Bengal is also gearing up for the fourth phase of voting. The fourth phase elections will be held in 44 assembly constituencies spread across five districts. Polling will be held in this phase in urban Howrah, parts of South 24 Parganas that are adjacent to Kolkata, urban parts of Hooghly, besides Alipurduar and Coochbehar.
BJP President JP Nadda will also hold three roadshows in West Bengal today ahead of the fourth and final phase of the assembly elections in the state. In the afternoon, he held roadshow in Alipurduar, after he is expected to arrive in Dinhata for another campaign rally. At 3:15, he will also hold another roadshow in Mekliganj.
Earlier today, Delhi High Court also directs Election Commission to implement Covid-19 guidelines in the state in which election is being scheduled.
Bengal legislative assembly elections for 294 seats are scheduled to be held between 27th March to 29th April 2021 in 8 phases. The results for the same will be announced on 2nd May 2021.
