While the third phase of the Bengal assembly election taking place today, there’s a piece of news that the TMC candidate Sujata Mondal has been allegedly attacked by mask-clad men in Arambagh, West Bengal.
As the voting was underway, there broke out a clash between BJP and TMC supporters and amid the clash, some mask-clad men allegedly threw bricks at Mondal. The TMC has filed a complaint with the election commission convicting the BJP of the attack.
Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said, “We shall take legal action against such central force personnel. We shall file an FIR. They talk about Beti Bachao and beat up my women candidate, who is also an SC candidate”.
Now, senior TMC leader has wrote to EC, “Goons of BJP attacked TMC candidate Sujata Mondal at Arandi-I booth no.263 Mahallapara. Her personal security officer has suffered injuries on head and is in critical state. CRPF personnel were silent spectators.”
The letter further adds, “You are called upon to apprehend the goons of BJP, ensure that no corrupt practices take place, ensure the safety of our workers/members, ensure that polls are conducted freely and fairly,” as quoted by news agency ANI.
