On Wednesday, March 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Lakhimpur, Assam. While speaking to people, PM called Congress alliance as ‘Mahajhoot’ with neither representative nor policy.
As quoted by news agency ANI, PM Modi said, “Congress can do anything for votes. Here Congress is joining hands with the Left while in Kerala, Congress abusing them. This is not ‘Mahajot’, it’s a ‘Mahajhoot’ which neither has a representative nor policy. Such an alliance can only guarantee infiltration &corruption in Assam.”

PM Modi then counted achievements of BJP government in the state. He said, “In 70 years, Assam had seen the development of just 13,000 kms of roads in the state. In the last five years, we have built nearly 15,000 km of rural roads! 700 km of new roads have been built only in Lakhimpur.”
PM further said, “In five years, we’ve already built 8 medical colleges. This will provide you better medical care and opportunities to our youth studying medicine. Under the PM Awas Yojana, over 5.5 lakh houses have been approved. Several beneficiaries have already received their houses.”
PM Modi also claimed as how BJP government in Assam increased the LPG coverage. He said, “The poor people in every region of Assam have LPG gas connections. LPG coverage in Assam has increased from under 50% to nearly 100% in just 5 years.”
Elections for 126 legislative assembly are scheduled to take place in three phases on 27th March, 1st April and 6th April. Election for the first phase will take place for 47 constituencies, while 39 for second and 40 for last and final phase. The result for same will be announced on 2nd May 2021.
