For the third time in a row during the National Executive meeting on Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) head Arvind Kejriwal was elected as the party’s national convener.
Earlier this year, the party’s constitution was amended to permit someone to keep a post more than twice. The constitution in advance stated that “no member will keep the identical post as a workplace-bearer for more than consecutive phrases of 3 years each”.
After the amendment, which was made in January 2021, the period of the term has been extended to five years and the bar on the wide variety of phrases for officer bearers has been lifted, sources stated.
