The letter threatening to kill Odisha’s Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was sent to his residence Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar. The letter was handwritten which mentioned that some contract killers armed with latest weapons like AK-47 and semi-automatic pistols are out to kill the Chief Minister. It also said that these contract killers are professional criminals and they can kill the Chief Minister at any time.
“I would like to inform you that some contact killers (illegible) to kill you. These contract killers are professional criminals. These contract killers are equipped with latest weapons like AK-47, semi-automatic pistol. These criminals may attack you anytime,” the letter read.
Special Secretary (Home) Dr Santosh Bala asked the state’s DGP (director general of police), director-general of intelligence and the Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar, to enquire into the matter and tightened the security arrangements of the Chief Minister.
The letter also mentioned that the criminals can attack him at any time and asked him to be aware as these contract killers are continuously following him and the weapons which will be used have been brought to the state while the mastermind lives in Nagpur.
Furthermore, the anonymous letter also mentioned a list of 17 cars with registration numbers of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Punjab, Odisha, Delhi, Haryana, Sikkim and Maharashtra which are being used by the criminals to follow Patnaik.
