5 of Congress’s MLA’s who had recently quit Congress and resigned from the state assembly joined the Bharatiya Janta Party on Wednesday and met the party’s national president Jagat Prakash Nadda in Delhi.

Henry Okram, nephew of former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ibobi Singh, Panonam Broken, Oinam Lukhoi Singh, Ngamthang Haokip, Ginsuanhau Zou were sworn in by the BJP Vice President Baijayant Jay Panda. The major development comes after the Biren Singh government won a vote of trust in the Manipur Legislative Assembly. BJP’s national General Secretary Ram Madhav said during the ceremony that Manipur had been under bad governance for more than a decade when BJP came to power in 2017 and made Manipur one of the fasted growing states according to an ANI report.

“Today, I called on BJP National President Sh @JPNadda ji at his office and apprised him about the political developments in Manipur state. Hon’ble President congratulated the government on winning the trust vote in the Assembly,” Biren tweeted yesterday.

BJP had won the confidence motion on 10th August 28-16, in which the 5 Congress MLAs did not participate. They later tendered their resignation and travelled to Delhi with the CM and 5 of them joined BJP earlier today.
