An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered from a suspicious bag that was found on the road in the old Seemapuri area of Delhi. The National Security Guard (NSG), Delhi Police, and Fire Department officials were at the spot
Visuals from the old Seemapuri area demonstrated heavy police presence in the area. The tip regarding the unspecified bag was acquired at about 2:15 pm. The area was sealed off and local residents were asked to vacate the spaces around the spot.
“During the Ghazipur RDX case investigation, the Special Cell got information about this house in Old Seemapuri. When the Special Cell team reached here, this house was closed and a suspicious bag was found. The fire department and NSG were informed to reach the spot,” Delhi Police sources told news agency ANI.
In the previous month, on January 22, 2022, two sceptical bags were caught hold at the Trilokpuri Metro Station in the national capital. The incident erupted a bomb scare in the area. The bomb disposal squad arrived at the spot and after scanning the bags, confirmed that there was nothing sceptical in them.
A short while ago, an improvised explosive device (IED) was caught in Delhi’s Ghazipur Flower Market. The bomb disposal squad exploded the IED in a pit on open ground. No damage to life was noted in the incident. The present investigation regarding the discovery of the bag in Old Seemapuri might give clues regarding the identification of suspects involved in the Ghazipur Mandi IED case.
